Why this exists

A passion project, born from a shared frustration.

This started with a handful of friends working across very different industries — all running into the same problem. The tools meant to organise their work were either heavyweight systems that needed a setup budget and a training course, or lightweight to-do apps that fell apart the moment things got complex.

Nothing in between just worked: something you could open and use in seconds, simple enough for everyday tasks but with the depth to handle blockers, dependencies, references and deadlines when the work demanded it.

So we built it. Start with a simple list if that's all you need. Scale up to a full multi-stream board with dependencies, custom fields, and deadline tracking when things get complex. Everything lives in a single file on your device — no subscription, no login, no internet required.

Does it use AI? +

No — and nothing leaves your machine without your say-so. Out of the box there's no AI, no tracking, and no network connection at all.

If you want AI help, there are two opt-in routes. Already have an AI subscription (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar)? The app prepares a ready-made summary you can paste across — for drafting client emails, analysing progress, or planning next steps. Or, if you run a local AI on your own machine with Ollama, connect it directly and get analysis, report reviews, and drafting help without a single byte leaving your computer. Both are off by default, and the app shows its network-lock status in Settings so you can see for yourself.

What happens if I close my browser? +

Nothing is lost. Every change saves instantly to your browser's storage, and on Chrome and Edge the app also auto-saves to a board file of your choosing in the background — pick a file once and it stays updated as you work. Close the tab, restart your machine, come back next week — everything is exactly where you left it.

What if I clear my browser data? +

If you're on Chrome or Edge with auto-save set up, you're covered — your board file has everything, and you just reopen it. On other browsers, use the built-in Save to export a backup file now and then; restoring takes one click. Either way, the app warns you if browser storage runs low rather than failing silently.

How do I use it across multiple devices? +

Save your board file to a synced folder — OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, whatever you already use. Open it on any device and you're straight back in. Chrome and Edge keep the file updated automatically as you work; on other browsers, use Save before you switch devices. No accounts, no setup, no sync conflicts.

Is my data secure? +

There's no server, no database, and no account to breach. The file ships with a hard network lock — it can't call the internet even if it tried, and you can verify the lock status yourself in Settings. Your data never leaves your device unless you choose to move it. It's about as private as software gets.

Do I need to install anything? +

No. Open the file in any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari — and it runs. No installer, no admin rights, no IT ticket. Chrome and Edge give the best experience: they support silent background auto-save to your board file, so you never think about saving at all.

Does it work on Mac and Windows? +

Yes — it runs in the browser, so Windows, Mac, and Linux all work identically. It's designed for desktop and laptop screens, where a full board is easiest to work with.

Do I get updates? +

Yes — updates to Task Planner are free. When a new version is released, you'll get an email and can re-download it from your Gumroad library. Updates never touch your data: open the new file, point it at your board, and carry on.

Is this a subscription? +

No. One payment, yours forever. No renewals, no price hikes, no account that can be cancelled. The file on your machine keeps working regardless of what happens to us.

Can I move it to a new computer? +

Yes — copy the app file over (or re-download it from Gumroad), bring your board file across, and carry on. Two minutes, no licence transfer, no deactivation dance.

Can my whole team use it? +

The licence is per person — each user buys their own copy and keeps their own board. There's no shared live board, because there's no server (that's the point). But teams aren't isolated: the built-in handover feature lets you pass tickets to a colleague who also has the app, and reports and exports keep everyone in the picture.
